The guidelines for schools that have adopted the standardized policy are as follows:

• Red, navy or white polo-style shirts (short or long sleeves, no logos)
• Red, navy or white sweaters or sweatshirts
• Navy or khaki slacks or shorts of a modest length (approximately 2 inch above the knee or longer)
• Girls may also choose navy, khaki or plaid skirts, skorts, capris, or jumpers of a modest length (approximately 2 inches above the knee or longer; plaids should be a red/blue combination)

At Heather Glen, we follow this dress schedule each week:

• Monday- standardized dress
• Tuesday- standardized dress
• Wednesday- Work Hard Wednesday- students may wear standardized dress or jeans with a college or military T-shirt
• Thursday- standardized dress
• Friday- Spirit Day- students may wear standardized dress, jeans with a Heather Glen or Garland ISD school spirit shirt or jeans with either a blue or orange shirt

Heather Glen participates in the district's Breakfast in the Classroom program. Breakfast is provided at no charge to every student on campus. Breakfast is served from 8-8:30 a.m.

For the purpose of state accounting, students are either present or absent at the times the official attendance is taken at the campus. Excused absences may be considered for illness, death in the immediate family, or other circumstances approved in advance by the principal.

In the event of an absence, students are required to bring a note stating the student's name, teacher, date, and reason for the absence with a signature of the parent/guardian. Failure to send a note within the required time period will result in an unexcused absence. In the event of absences exceeding three days, a doctor's excuse must be obtained.

To better protect our students, visitors and staff, our campus screens for registered sex offenders. A valid State issued ID is required to enter our campus. Please report to the main office to check in. Thank you for helping us keep our Heather Glen Roadrunners safe!

Siblings/Families/Students that walk or ride together: These students will be dropped off on the Kindergarten side of the building. They will sit in their family group in the gym until teachers pick them up at 7:55 a.m.

Single walkers/car riders: These students will be dropped off at the front of the building and walk into the cafeteria. They will sit in the cafeteria until teachers pick them up at 7:55 a.m.

Students will gather in the cafeteria with a staff member. Staff members will walk each group directly to the bus or van. Please notify the school if your child will not be riding their bus before the end of the school day.

Parents and or adults must provide proof of student's "pick up" car sign provided by the school. Signs can be repurchased for $1 in the school office. 

Siblings/Families/Students that ride together: they will be released from the gym as parents arrive. A teacher will call for the students via walkie talkie for the students to come to the Kindergarten side door.

Single car riders: they will be released from the cafeteria as parents arrive. A teacher will call for the students via walkie talkie for the students to out the front door.
