Library procedures
Every student visits the library once in a week in their special rotation. The library is open all day for students needing to check books out. Books are due one week from the day checked them out, but can be renewed.
Texas bluebonnet award
Every year, the Texas Library Association selects 20 books (published in the previous year) that represent the best in children’s literature. Students in 3rd-5th grade who have read five of these books are given the opportunity to vote for their favorite title. The results are collected throughout the state and a state winner is named. At Heather Glen, rewards are given for every five books read.
Library promotions
Every month, the library highlights books through promotions. These are tailored to grade levels to give students an opportunity to earn reading related prizes. At the beginning of each month, look on ClassDojo for the announcement of the new promotion. Parents are encouraged to help their students and share in the fun.
Library catalogs
Find books, ebooks, and other resources by visiting your school's library catalog. If you need help with any of these resources, please contact your school librarian.
Online instructional resources
Online Instructional Resources are available to all students, teachers, parents, and administrators from any district or non-district computer.
