Parents
We are proud to have so many parents involved with their student's learning! We will have different family engagement nights throughout the year, including Meet the Teacher, Hispanic Heritage Night, Trunk or Read, Carnival, and more! Plan to join us on these evenings for performances, activities, and food!
Attendance
It is very important for students to be in class on time every day. When students are absent, they miss vital lessons that are necessary for academic success. If your child is ill, please notify the office. We love seeing our students every single day!
Need help with district devices?
For technology help with district-provided Chromebooks, mobile hotspots and iPads, see our page Technology support: Get help with district devices. There, you can find the support request form and resources for setting up and using district-provided technology.
Heather Glen uses Class Dojo to communicate more easily with our parents. Teachers share pictures of their students doing activities, schoolwide programs are highlighted and parents can easily message teachers about their students. Information is easily translated into Spanish directly on the website and app.
Health
Please notify the school immediately if your student is home sick. If your student has been diagnosed with the flu or any other communicable disease, please speak directly to the nurse. Tell the nurse if your student is taking any medications even at home. In the event of an emergency, this information will be helpful to emergency medical providers. Only medications prescribed by a doctor can be given at school. All medications must be deposit-ed with the school nurse by the parent or guardian. All student medication MUST be in the original container with the pharmacy label. Medication will not be accepted in any other container.
Help your student do his best at school. Remember your student needs:
- Sufficient sleep EVERY NIGHT. Most Elementary age children need 10-12 hours of sleep per night.
- A good breakfast
- To eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day
- To drink lots of water and not sodas or sugary drinks
- To play and get at least 60 minutes of physical exercise daily
- To have a clean body and uniform
- To come to school prepared and ready to learn
- For more health tips or questions, call our school nurse.
