Grief Sensitive School

Herfurth Elementary is a Grief-Sensitive School.  Our staff is committed to help provide a supportive environment for students and their families who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Be a friend

Herfurth students, as part of the 2017 STEAMposium Maker Tank challenge, designed a friendship bench. The idea behind the bench was to give students a place to go if they needed a friend. In 2018, the maker idea became a reality with the help of Herfurth volunteer dads, the Watch D.O.G.S.

Students who need a connection are free to sit at the bench, now located on the Herfurth playground. Students can make a choice to be a friend when they see someone there.

No student should be subjected to bullying or harassment that interferes with their ability to learn or their safety.
