Music at Hillside
Students go to music class once a week for 55 minutes.
Students learn a variety of terms, symbols, games, dances, and about instruments in music class. The Fine Arts department provides transportation each year for third graders to attend a play at a local high school and for fourth graders to see and hear the Garland Symphony Orchestra perform.
Fourth and fifth graders have the opportunity to play a string instrument in addition to regular music class. Please refer to the Orchestra section of the website.
Hillside Singers
This group is made up of 4th and 5th graders who show an interest in singing and performing. Fourth and fifth graders will meet each Friday during their regular specials time.
Garland ISD fine arts
We are committed to the education of the whole child and as a component of that education believe that:
- every student should have a basic knowledge, skills and appreciation of the fine arts.
- a quality arts education program will enable students to develop self-esteem, self-discipline, self motivation, and cooperation necessary for success in life.
