Hello, my name is Angela Haskins, and I am thrilled to start my third year serving as the 6th-grade Assistant Principal at Sam Houston Middle School. My educational journey began with earning a Bachelor’s degree from Howard-Payne University, followed by obtaining my teaching certificate from Texas Tech University. I further advanced my expertise by completing a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University Commerce.
Before joining Sam Houston in 2022, I spent my first 6 years in GISD at Webb Middle School coaching and teaching, 12 years coaching and teaching from elementary to high school in Wylie ISD, and then three years as an Assistant Principal in Forney ISD, where I gained valuable experience in educational leadership and student support.
In my role at Sam Houston Middle School, I have the pleasure of leading the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team. I also oversee the Reading Language Arts and Physical Education Departments, ensuring that our curriculum and programs meet the highest standards. Additionally, I coordinate the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) and manage all campus testing, ensuring that our students' academic progress is accurately measured and supported.
My educational philosophy centers around the belief that every child has the potential to learn and thrive when provided with a welcoming and inclusive environment. I am deeply passionate about meeting the individual needs of each student, helping them grow, and enabling them to become the best version of themselves.
On a personal note, I live in Wylie, Texas, with my wonderful husband, who also works in the Garland Independent School District (GISD), and our three daughters. Together, we are committed to the field of education and dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of our students.
