Hudson Hawk Band
The Hudson Band has 324 students in 6-8 grade. We have 3 advanced bands, a beginner band where students learn in like-instrument classes, and a jazz band.
In 2022, we had 27 students earn a spot in the GISD All-District Band and/or the TMEA Region 3 All-Region Band. Of those students, 3 earned the distinction of being 1st chair. Our students earned 91 first division medals at the Solo & Ensemble competitions and 3 were selected as outstanding soloists!
In 2019 we became the first middle school in Garland ISD history to have 3 middle school bands earn the Sweepstakes award at the UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluation. Our Wind Symphony was ranked 6th in the region in their first time entering the TMEA CCC Honor Band Competition. Our bands regularly receive superior ratings at contests and festivals around the DFW metroplex.
Hudson Choir
Our Hudson Choir has over 300 members and is AWESOME! These are just a few of our Hudson Choir accomplishments this school year.
GISD Solo and Ensemble Contest: All 12 soloists and 12 ensembles received top rating of "I". That adds up to 251 first division medals! We also had 5 students chosen as outstanding soloist!
Region 3 Choir: Hudson Choir had 35 students chosen for this huge honor, more than any other school in the region!
Hudson Theatre
The Hudson Middle School Theatre Program emphasizes giving students students life skills through acting and stage tech. In theater class you will develop communication skills, body movement, basic light and sound tech, makeup and costume creation. Students will also learn about a variety of tools and building techniques to help imagine, create, and maintain sets and construction projects. We work in groups to create performances at all levels.
Our theater company puts on at least 4 performances each year: UIL One Act Play competition, a holiday show, Hudson's spring open-audition dinner theater, and a 2 act spring production.
Our theatre students house some of the most creative and talented students in Garland ISD! We pride ourselves on helping students find where they belong and we welcome all students with open arms!
