What is Pentathlon?
Find out about the fun we have! Then join this great group of 7th & 8th graders.
Seventh and eighth grade students compete in five areas: Math, Science, Social Studies, Novel and Super Quiz. Jackson students continue to win many awards each year at the district and regional levels. Jackson MST has made it to National Competition for last two years. One of only 4 Texas middle school teams we are very proud of our kids.
Jackson wins Khan Academy award
Jackson MST has earned a distinguished award from Khan Academy and AT&T. Jackson math teacher, Crystal Hulkewicz, and her students, scored in the top 6 schools in the nation in the Khan Academy LearnStorm competition. Students collaborated and hit level 12 and completed over 174 growth mindset activities. Mrs. Hulkewicz was presented with a check for $5,000. Students in her math classes received glasses, bags, pom-poms, and Houston Astros jerseys. We are very proud of Mrs. Hulkewicz and her students on the is terrific accomplishment. A pep rally celebration was held on November 8 with staff from Khan and AT&T, the Garland ISD Board of Trustees, and Representative Cindy Burkett from the Texas House of Representatives in attendance.

STEMformation initiative
Jackson is one of only 3 middle schools in the state of Texas and one of only four in the United States to implement the STEMformation initiative. This program seeks to give middle school students rich experiences in STEM-related curriculum to prepare them for current and future STEM-related jobs. Texas is projected to have almost 800,000 STEM-related jobs by 2018. We are excited to partner with Discovery Education in the training of staff and delivery of curriculum and resources for students and parents! We continue to “GO BIG” at JTC!
National Junior Honor Society
NJHS is a service-oriented group. Students must complete an application for acceptance into the Society.
They must maintain at least at 85 GPA to be considered eligible for membership, and maintain that GPA to stay eligible throughout the year!
The students of NJHS work hard in their classes and are very passionate about the service projects they participate in throughout the year.

DimensionU consists of four engaging and interactive multiplayer video games that focus on core skills in math and literacy. Each game is designed with unique features that bring out distinct academic and strategic skills in students.
Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.
