Throughout November, we celebrate the important role parents and families play in education.
Keeley is the only campus in Rowlett to receive an "A" rating. This means that only 19.8% of Texas schools received this rating for the 2018-2019 school year. Keeley celebrated with a huge pep rally and our superintendant, Dr. Lopez, as well as school board members, and GISD administrators joined in the celebration.
In early October, Keeley's 5th grade students attended Pine Cove outdoor education camp for three days.
The students at Keeley enjoyed themselves tremendously on Western day and we couldn't have asked for better weather.
It's that time of year again for the annual Family Engagement Survey. We need all parents to complete this survey online. The deadline for completion is March 31, 2020.
Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention prevention awareness campaign. Red Ribbon week begins Oct. 28-Nov. 1.
It's almost time for the #ChooseGISD Expo! Are you and your student ready to choose?
The 2019-2020 Reflections theme this year is Look Within. Celebrate arts in your school community with Reflections. This program focuses on positive reflection rather than competition. All art submissions are due to the front office by Friday, Nov. 15. Winners will be announced on Friday, Nov. 22.
Congratulations to Heather Schultz, Keeley Elementary's Employee of the Month for September.
Taylor Andes, a fifth-grade student in Mrs. Clayton's class won first place in the Cyber Safety contest.
War Against Bullying (Wear Camouflage)
Don't wait to get your flu shot. GISD is hosting flu clinics at Shugart Elementary and other area clinics.
Vaccines will be free to CHIP and Medicaid recipients and will cost $10 for children and $35 for adults without insurance. The clinics will accept private insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, Cigna, or Aetna.
There are multiple opportunities for families to get the flu vaccine at our district and area clinics:
You may also be able to get vaccinations through your personal health care provider.
Join us at the #ChooseGarlandISD Expo to find the right fit for your student.
Parents and prospective students are invited to learn more about their upcoming campuses and what it's like to attend. Families will be able to:
- explore academics, course selection, college and career options, graduation requirements and more
- learn about our Choice of School process and timeline
- see our available programs at all levels, including magnet opportunities
- meet the students and staff of their campuses
We look forward to seeing you there.
