Reading incentives continue until the end of the year

Incentives for reading include Braum's treats and Panda Express awards.

We are still rewarding students who finish reading books with Braum's ice cream treats and Panda Express kids meals. You may send students to collect these during open checkout or during their library times. The Braum's coupons expire end of June, and the Panda Express ones are good until the end of 2025.

Kimberlin Tales to wrap up their season

On Thursday, March 6th, the group performed in front of parents at the 3rd grade music show. Despite some acoustical problems, the students did well. Some students have ended their time with us. However, the remaining students are preparing for their performance of THE JADE STONE. They have expressed interest in returning to younger classes during the last week of school. Watch for an email to schedule that for your class.

Building community and enriching listening skills through games

We like games in the library. We just finished our third iteration of BINGO with SPRING-O. Students had to listen to rhyming riddles for the answer before covering it on their board. They love these games, and we believe it reinforces their listening skills. We have also played Bluebonnet Dice game, Back-to-Back Spelling Bee, and others. We like to "hype them up and send them home..!"

Libraries and building

Bridges were made to represent Ruby Bridges.

Connecting building to literature

After many weeks of cleaning and sorting, we finally got a handle on all of the building supplies that were in the library storage room. We've had a good time incorporating these into library time. Recently, students were asked to build bridges in honor of Ruby Bridges' courage in forging new pathways for students. We got some clever results!

Spring book fair was a big success!

We had more than $6400 in sales at the Spring book fair. We are often asked how the library profits from our sales. Scholastic provides a bigger return if we choose our profits in Scholastic Bucks, which we can use to purchase books and products from their catalog. So 100% of our profits goes to buy more books, bookmarks, and items for our library. Thanks for all your support during book fairs!
