Music

Musical instruction

All students go to music class once or twice a week for 50 minutes.

Students learn a variety of terms, symbols, games, dances, and about instruments in class.  The Fine Arts department provides buses each year for third graders to attend a play at a local high school. Fourth graders get to see and hear the Garland Symphony Orchestra perform free of charge.

Fourth and fifth graders have the chance to play a string instrument as well as attend their music class.  Please refer to the Orchestra section of this website.

All grade levels are working on note reading skills through singing, moving, and playing instruments.

This group is made up of third, fourth, and fifth grader students who show an interest in singing and performing.  They meet after school from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.  Shows are in the winter and spring along with the orchestra concerts.  Students should get an application from their homeroom teacher if interested. Email Mr. Davis if you have any questions.
