#GISD Always Connected
Strings students and parents can check their grade level digital platform (Google Classroom) for information from Mrs. Pruitt on how to connect with her virtually during this time of At-Home learning. She is available to meet during her virtual office hours from 9:00-10:00 am and again from 3:00-4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
The Kimberlin String Program is designed for 4th and 5th grade students wishing to play violin, viola, cello, string bass, or harp.
Students need no prior musical training to enroll in group classes ranging in size from 10 to 30 students. Lessons are given weekly during the special activities block of the school day.
Kimberlin Advanced Strings proudly boasts earning Sweepstake ratings at Sandy Lake Funfest.
Kimberlin Strings has also received many Best in Class trophies throughout the years. This year 112 students perform in the KAE orchestra program.
Please contact Program Director, Judy Pruitt, for more information.
Students perform for retired teachers
On December 10th a select group of fifth grade orchestra students went to First Baptist Church of Garland to perform for the GISD Retired Teacher Luncheon. After the performance, members of the group gave lessons on how to play their instrument to some of the teachers. A great time was had by all.
All 4th-grade students attend a Garland Symphony Orchestra concert each year. The Garland
Symphony Orchestra's website is an awesome resource.
The Dallas Symphony website is also a great source of information. See and hear every instrument; listen to pieces from different composers; play music memory, music theory, and music history games.
The New York Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the best orchestra sites for children on the internet today. (Many games, viewing, and listening sites)
