Looking for the latest information about Kimberlin Academy? Want quick, timely updates sent straight to your computer or cell phone? We can provide all of that! Kimberlin Academy now uses X to share information with parents. X is a free social networking site that allows users to send updates, or “tweets,” to multiple followers. GISD launched a district account in 2011.

KAE has launched its own X account to share our campus news. If you are already an X user, follow GISD at @gisdnews and Kimberlin at @KA_Knights to start receiving updates. If you don’t have an X account, or don’t want one, don’t worry. There are two ways to stay “in the know.”

Log on to X and follow the instructions to sign up for a X account. Once you’re a Twitter user, search for gisdnews and KA_Knights to then click the “Follow” button.

Receive text messages in lieu of signing up for an X account. Text “Follow @gisdnews” and “Follow KA_Knights” to 40404. Tweets will be sent as messages to your smart phone (standard messaging rates apply). You can turn off the updates at any time by texting “Stop @gisdnews” and “Stop KA_Knights” to 40404.

Integrating technology in our classrooms is a major focus at Kimberlin. We are fortunate to have a variety of tools to work with - updated computers, webcams, tons of software, and 1:1 device for every student! If you don't know what some of these are, ask your student to explain how they are used in class! Kids can create real world products and have fun with up-to-date technology, and they love it!

KidRex is a fun and safe search site for kids! KidRex searches emphasize kid-related webpages from across the entire web. They are powered by Google Custom Search™ and use Google SafeSearch™ technology to screen for sites containing inappropriate content. It then deletes them from your child’s search results. Google's filter uses advanced technology to check keywords, phrases, and URLs. No filter is 100 percent accurate, but SafeSearch™ should eliminate most inappropriate material.
You can set it as your home page so kids search through it rather than the world wide web.

Parents need to know:

1. By law, the school district does not provide insurance for the students.
2. The medical costs associated with student injuries that result from accidents are the responsibility of the parents or guardians.
3. The student accident insurance is available and does not have a deductible. It will pay even if there is other insurance.

Student Accident Insurance is available to students registered with GISD. An application and claim forms are available online.

Time Warner Cable channels 98 & 99, aka "GRS-TV" features a diverse mix of programming developed by video professionals and students in the Television Production Magnet at LCHS. GRS-TV is now available on the Verizon FiOS Television. Get all the news and information about the GISD on Channels 42 and 43 in Garland and Rowlett. Residents in Sachse should tune to Channel 43.
