Absences

If your child is absent, please send a note to the office the day he/she returns to school.  Notes can be given to the teacher or office staff.  You may also email the excuse to the note to Ms. Martinez in the office.  Please make sure to include your child's teacher's name and the student ID number on the absence note.

Partial absences

• Tardy: Students arriving after 8:20 are given a partial absence for the day and must enter the building through the front doors.

• Early Withdrawal: Students leaving before 3:30 are given a partial absence for the day.

• 3 Partial Absences will prevent a child from receiving Perfect Attendance recognition.

Arrival - 7:30 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. 

• Only buses, daycares, and blue car tags drop off at the front of the school. 
• Car riders - Form 1 lane as you drive around the back of the school to the cafeteria side of the building.
• Pull all the way up to the end of the awning. Do not get out of your car.
• Stay in the inside lane. Do not drive around other cars.
• Form 2 lanes to exit after drop off. 
• Car drop off lane closes at 8:10 a.m. Pull around to the front of the building. Park and walk up to sign in for a tardy slip in the front office.

Dismissal - 3:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. 

To change how your child is going home for the day, notify the front office by 2:00 p.m.  

• You will follow the lane color that matches your car tag color (orange, green, or blue). 
• 1st - 5th grade Car Riders without a Pre-K/Kindergarten sibling will be picked up in the green outer lane away from the curb.
• Pre-K/Kindergarten Car Riders and their siblings will be picked up in the inner orange lane closest to the curb.
• Car Riders - please pull all the way up to the end of the awning on the cafeteria side of the building. Do not get out of your car.
  • Students not picked up in the car line by 3:45 p.m. will be taken to the office. You will need to park and come into the front office to sign your child out.
• Front Porch Walkers - Walk out through the front doors of the school and walk along Liberty Grove Road toward Waterview. Students walk home independently without staff supervision.
• Side Walkers - Walk out through the cafeteria doors into the cul-de-sac next to the school. Parents meet their child in the cul-de-sac or students walk home independently without staff supervision.

Consistent attendance is not only crucial to your child's education, but also the law in the State of Texas.  Poor attendance can directly contribute to poor academic performance and potential failure.  It is the responsibility of both the school and the home to establish a good attendance record.  Good attendance is a must in order to receive the maximum benefit from education.

Incentives will be in place for students who are consistently at school on time and who have exemplary attendance.

Liberty Grove follows the Garlandisd ISD Bullying Policies and Procedures.

Liberty Grove follows the Garland ISD dress code policy.  Students should not wear flip-flops.  Shorts, skirts, and skorts should be fingertip length.  Shirts should have straps of at least 3-fingers width.  Students also need to wear sneakers on the days they attend PE.  Please put your child's name on coats, sweaters, backpacks and lunchboxes.

We are working very hard to install strong routines and procedures with students on campus and need time to ensure these are taught and followed properly.
