Principal: Danielle Riddick
Dear Lister Lions Community,
It is my honor to have served at the amazing Vernal Lister Elementary since June 2020! One of my core beliefs is that each of our children possesses a specific purpose and life’s mission. Our school works to provide engaging learning that inspires and challenges all students. Together, we will ensure students have opportunities to grow, learn and reach their full potential.
Serving in Texas public schools since 2010 has afforded me many opportunities to work with amazing students and effective, passionate teachers. I have served as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, assistant principal, and principal. I earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, Master of Education from the University of North Texas and a Doctorate in Education from Southern Methodist University.
Our goal is to consistently take concrete steps to ensure our students receive exactly what they need to grow as lifelong learners. Partner with us as we move forward in doing what is best for every student, every day. Let’s do everything we can to carry out Garland ISD’s vision of driving excellence one student at a time. Once again, it is my pleasure and a gift to serve as the Lister Lion’s principal.
To a bright future,
Dr. Danielle Riddick

It is with great pride and excitement that I serve as the assistant principal of Lister Elementary. I am extremely humbled and honored to work together with our students, parents, staff and community members of such an amazing school. I highly value building relationships in order to grow strong individuals with an intrinsic motivation toward learning and success.
My educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (Langston University) and a Master in Executive Business Administration (Texas Woman’s University). This is my 7th year serving our Garland community as an educator. During this time I have served as a classroom teacher (Kimberlin Academy), interventionist (Roach Elementary) and an instructional coach (Handley Elementary ACE) in Garland ISD.
I’ve been blessed with a beautiful family! My wonderful husband keeps me strong and our son is the reason I smile every day. We enjoy playing games, exploring our beautiful metroplex, working out, and participating in all things soccer. During my free time, I enjoy reading, listening and dancing to music, and shopping.
I look forward to working side-by-side with our Lister families and staff to continue the great success that Lister has shown throughout the years!
