Clubs and organizations
The National Elementary Honor Society chapter of Vernal Lister Elementary is a duly chartered and affiliated chapter of this prestigious national organization. Membership is open to those students who meet the required standards in four areas of evaluation: scholarship, responsibility, service, and leadership. Students are selected for membership by majority vote of a principal-appointed faculty council, which bestows this honor upon qualified students on behalf of the faculty of our school each Fall and/or Spring Semester.
Students in grades 4th and 5th are eligible for membership. To be eligible for selection to membership in this chapter, the candidate must have been enrolled for a period equivalent to one semester at Vernal Lister Elementary School. Candidates must have an average of 85.0 or higher in core content subjects (language arts, reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). Upon meeting the grade level, enrollment, and academic standards, candidates shall be considered based on their demonstrated personal responsibility and behavior. Each fall and/or spring semester, those students who meet this criterion are invited to complete a Candidate Form that provides the faculty council with information regarding the candidate’s leadership and service.
Any solicited faculty input and all Candidate Forms are carefully reviewed by the faculty council to determine membership. A majority vote of the council is necessary for selection. Candidates are notified regarding selection or non-selection according to a predetermined schedule.
Following notification, a formal induction ceremony is held at the school to recognize all the newly selected members. Once inducted, new members are required to maintain the same level of performance (or better) in all four criteria that led to their selection.

The purpose of the P.R.I.D.E. Club is to inspire and encourage our boys to become respectable young men within our community. Too many of our boys are being deceived by television, videos, and social media. We want to teach our boys to understand the value of being gentlemen and how to be responsible, respectful, and ready.
The boys will learn a different skill each month followed by a guest speaker. On the 3rd Thursday meeting we will have a dress for success day. The year will conclude with a mother-son dance in May.
Meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month from 3:30-4:15
