Biztown
Lister’s fifth-grade students completed a financial literacy unit last semester. In this unit, they filled out job applications to work in the town of Biztown. The fifth graders traveled to Biztown at GISD’s Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center. They were sworn in as Biztown citizens and then began their new jobs. Their jobs took place at businesses such as Southwest Airlines, Atmos Energy, AT&T, and City Hall. Students set up their own payroll, pay taxes to City Hall, and sell goods and services.
