School spirit & history
Luna pride

Welcome to Luna
We're so glad that you have chosen to make our school yours. It's easy to have school spirit with a school like Luna. Intelligent and hard working students, supportive parents, and energetic teachers... who wouldn't want to be a Luna Lion?
The Luna Pledge
We say this pledge at the start of each school day. It is a wonderful reminder of what we expect of both our teachers and our students.
Today I will be the best
person I can be. I will listen
carefully. I will respect myself
and others. I am intelligent. I
can learn new things. I will
learn something new every
day. It is my choice.
Our history
Earl Luna Elementary opened its doors in 1985. The district bought the land on Lochness Road and named the school for Earl Luna. Before Mr. Luna's death in the fall of 1996, he served for 13 years as a Garland school trustee, including nine years as board president. He also worked as a Dallas attorney and the director of Memorial (Baylor Medical Center) Hospital in Garland.

While he was board president in 1963, Mr. Luna cast the deciding vote in a 4-3 decision that made the Garland school district one of the first in the area to become racially integrated.
At Luna, we take pride in our belief that our school should be FUN as well as educational. There's a sign on the front of our building that says "All who enter these doors must be prepared to learn." We think that ALL of our students are amazing and have the potential to do amazing things.
