Meet your art teacher

My name is Mrs. Duncan and I have been teaching for 16 years. This is my third year here in Garland ISD and I absolutely love it here!

When I am not in the art room, I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, growing things, playing with my dogs, creating all kinds of projects and reading. It is a true joy and blessing to be able to watch kids create, learn and grow everyday!

 

Throughout the year, students are exposed to and work with an array of art styles and mediums. They will have a chance to learn about artist expression, styles, history, and make real world connections. Students will create artworks using all kinds of mediums including paint, collage, oil pastel, fiber, and more. The art room is a peaceful, safe learning environment where students can challenge themselves and take creative initiative.

Art shows and contests

Student art is exhibited at the annual GISD Elementary Art Show at the South Garland Branch Library. Students have opportunities throughout the year to participate in art contests and exhibits that showcase student work in the community.
