There is a lot to think about for the future of our kids. But let’s not make it overwhelming or scary. Let’s make it interesting and exciting. We are preparing our kids for jobs that don’t even exist yet. So all we need to do is teach them to be incredible people and smart thinkers. They will be unstoppable.
Once we figure out our strengths and weaknesses, we can work on them. The same goes with our interests. We can get some idea of what we’d like to do as young as elementary school. Take a look at Paws in Jobland. They can spend a ton of time in here learning about careers they may have never thought of.
Sometimes students are unsure about college because they have never been exposed to what a college campus can be like! While we do not all have the opportunity to visit a college campus when we are in elementary school, we do all have the means to explore a college virtually. Disney has created an incredible website with Monsters University. Over half of our students have seen the movie at our Afternoon at the Movies. This site is fantastic for getting an idea of what a college experience could be like. They update the site and make it so much fun. Parents you might get absorbed in the site as well.
We are so thankful for parents and guardians who are taking the initiative to get their children ready for the future. There are very easy, free, and practical ways to prepare our kids. This podcast will help outline ways to help your students. You will be so glad you spent the 30 minutes listening to Why Adults Must Prepare Students to Transition Well.
Our 5th graders will be a real life taste of preparing for their future very soon! We will be meeting with them to see what their Choice of Subject will be for 6th grade! What a great time to talk about what they want out of life! Be on the lookout for Choice of Subject notes and Course Guides coming home in February.
