Travona Fobb
Reading and language arts
Mrs. Travona Fobb has dedicated 17 years to her career in education. Her journey began teaching 4th grade English-Language Arts at Northlake Elementary in Richardson ISD. In her second year, she achieved the impressive milestone of 100% of her students passing both the reading and writing state assessments. This contributed to the school earning exemplary status. Midway through her third year, her talents were recognized, and she was asked to become a Campus Reading Specialist, a role she excelled in for 7 ½ years. While in Richardson ISD, she furthered her education by earning a Master's degree in Education specializing in Advanced Literacy, became a certified reading specialist in Texas, and obtained her Principal Certification. Her leadership skills shone through various roles including grade level chair, chair of reading and writing Campus Improvement Plan, mentor teacher, Instructional Leadership Team member, dyslexia teacher, and facilitator and mentor of Girl P.O.W.E.R., a girls club at Northlake.
After a decade in Richardson, she made the decision to move to Garland ISD, where she resided and her children attended school. Her seven years in Garland have been spent at Lyles Middle School. She began as a 6th and 7th grade English-Language Arts teacher in the A.C.E. program and takes pride in having played a role in the school's improvement from an F rating to a B in the first year. She was a part of the English team that earned distinctions in the 2021-2022 school year and was one of the top 35% of teachers in the district to earn an incentive for student academic success. She has served as both CLC and team lead. In her sixth year at Lyles, she transitioned back into a leadership position as an instructional coach, a role she has excelled in this past year. Her coaching skills have empowered educators to refine their instructional strategies, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning within the school community.
She is currently a mentor and facilitator of Lyles Leading Ladies, a club that focuses on building self-esteem, self-awareness, strengthening mother-daughter relationships, giving back to the community, and developing leadership skills. Through this club, she has witnessed firsthand the positive impact it has had on the girls at Lyles Middle School, empowering them to become confident and compassionate leaders. Her dedication to the club has inspired her to explore opportunities to expand its reach within the community.
Outside of her educational pursuits, she values time spent with her husband, three children, tending to her garden, raising chickens, and giving back to the community. As a faithful member of True Love Bible Fellowship Church where her husband pastors, she serves as youth director and a member of the praise and worship team.

Social studies
Hello,
I'm Dezire Becke and I'm honored to serve as the Social Studies Department Chair and 8th Grade U.S. History teacher at Lyles Collegiate Middle School. My journey in education began with a B.S. in Business Administration from The University of Texas at Dallas, and I’ve been fortunate to blend my passion for history with my dedication to student success.
Over the years, I have been recognized as Teacher of the Month and have had the privilege of representing our educators as part of the Teacher Task Force Advocacy. These experiences have deepened my commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Outside of the classroom, I am a proud mother of three amazing teenagers—two of whom have recently graduated, with my youngest currently a senior in high school. Watching them navigate their own educational paths has been both inspiring and a constant reminder of the important role we, as educators, play in shaping the future.
I look forward to continuing to contribute to our vibrant school community and am excited about the opportunities ahead!
