Non-traditional High School
The non-traditional high school program offers two computer-based educational sessions for 9-12th grade to meet the needs of diverse students. With morning and afternoon sessions, we hope to accommodate numerous student schedules.
Real world experiences

The MPA Jaguars in the nontraditional hallway are studying hard and preparing for graduation and more. Their teachers recognize the importance of inviting visitors who can help students make the transition from school to college or career. Recently, Ella Khan visited Dr. Hutchinson's classes. Khan works for Garland ISD's Translation Services. She taught students about AI and the power of multilingualism. It was an important lesson for students. We are looking for more opportunities to bring real world experiences to our students.
Preparing for success
At our newcomer and nontraditional 9–12 campus, earning a high school

diploma is just the beginning. We believe every student deserves the opportunity to build a strong future — one that includes college readiness, career skills, and real‑world credentials that open doors.
That’s why, in addition to our personalized academic program, we help students pursue industry-recognized certificates that strengthen their résumés and expand their career options. These certifications give our learners a competitive edge, whether they plan to enter the workforce immediately or continue their education.
One of our standout students, Derrian Jones, is a powerful example of what’s possible when determination meets opportunity. As a nontraditional student balancing school, life, and future goals, Jones committed himself to learning a skilled trade. Through hard work and support from our staff, he successfully earned his Welding Certificate from Dallas College — a credential that positions him for stable, high‑demand employment. When asked what he would tell other students working toward their academic or career goals, Jones said, "Stay down with your plan because you do not know what kinds of things will come up. For me, when things came up, I looked up videos and asked for advice. I would tell students not to be afraid to ask for help pr advice and to remember that -it's the mental attitude you really need to get something like this done. For me, it was kind of hard balancing school and having a young daughter. But I was able to achieve my goal, and I feel like other students can, too."
Derrian’s achievement reflects the heart of our mission: helping students build confidence, gain practical skills, and prepare for meaningful careers. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishment and excited to see where his new certification takes him.
At our campus, students don’t just graduate — they launch.
