Jaguar Spotlight
Adam Abdramane
Let's shine the spotlight on one of our great Newcomer High School students, Adam Abdramane. Adam just recently enrolled at Memorial, and he is a welcomed addition to the Jaguar family. He has not been here long enough to know who his favorite teacher will be. However, he does have a favorite subject. Adam's favorite class is math because it introduces him to concepts related to engineering and computer science. These are his interests, and he is passionate about learning more about them. In his spare time outside of school, Adam enjoys keeping active with activities like playing soccer and basketball. He also enjoys watching movies.
Adam's future career goals include pursuing jobs in the areas of engineering or computer science. Additionally, one of his life goals include participating in the Hajj. The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Hajj is a mandatory religious duty for all Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake it, and it is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
We are already proud of Adam, and we know that he will reach his future goals.
Estefania Guevara
Let’s put the spotlight on one of our great Newcomer middle school students, Estefania Guevara.
She is from Guanajuato, Mexico. If you ever visit Guanajuato, Estefania advises you to visit the tourist areas where they have delicious Mexican foods; they also have mummies from thousands of years ago on display for you to see. Estefania recently enrolled at MPA, and she has quickly acclimated to the Jaguar ways. She is a member of Ms. Black's weekly book club where she is eager to practice reading and speaking in English. In fact, her favorite class is English. She enjoys learning about the parts of speech and how to write.
Estefania has two favorite teachers, Ms. Souad and Ms. Nickerson. She says that both teachers are nice, and they are good people. They help her with her work; they explain lessons very well and that helps her to be successful in classes. When Estefania is not at school, she enjoys watching movies and reading books in English.
Right now, she is still thinking about what career she wants to pursue in the future. We know that whatever Estefania decides to do, she will be successful.
Janieya Hamilton
Let's put the spotlight on one of our great NT students, Janieya Hamilton. Janieya is currently working diligently on her Edgenuity classes. She enjoys being a student at MPA, because she says the school is not problematic; it is peaceful, and at MPA, she can focus and study.
The environment here is working for Janieya. Her teachers and Dr. Montgomery attest to how hard she is working toward graduation. Janieya's favorite teacher is Mr. Debaun. She states, "Mr. Debaun is understanding. If someone is having a bad day or not feeling well, he is not confrontational with students. He tries to understand what they are going through. He allows students to deal with their feelings first, and then, he starts to help them."
In addition to working on her classes in school and out of school, Janieya often works a part-time job. Her future goals include serving our country by joining the Air Force. She is still deciding exactly which career path she might choose in the Air Force. At this time, she is considering jobs in fields like business or human resources. We know that Janieya will carry her work ethic with her where ever she goes, and we are excited to see all that she will accomplish at MPA and beyond.
