How to Apply

Choice of School / Magnet Application Dates:
January 7 - February 10, 2025

Please use the new Avela application to apply for magnet programs.

  1. Avela System Login information will be emailed to Skyward F1 contacts the first week of January. You will want to rank your school choices in the new Avela application system by preference, paying special attention to the Magnet/Non-Magnet indicator in the school title.

  2. The lottery system tries to match students with their choices in the order in which they’re listed, 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc., all the way through 6.

  3. After making a match, the program will add the student’s name to the waitlist of those schools that were ranked above the matched school.

  4. All schools ranked below the matched school are removed because they are less preferred than the matched school.

  5. If a magnet program finds a student not eligible, they will not be placed on the waitlist for that school option regardless of how the student ranked the school.

NEW!!!
Single Best Offer Results
Students will be given one school placement offer. There is no need to accept/decline a seat placement.  Students will remain on the waitlist for any schools that were higher ranked choices.

Single Best Offer Results Posted in Avela: March 7th

Attend the Explore GISD Expo on October 30th, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Curtis Culwell Center to learn more.
