Early College HS magnet (ECHS)
Program Overview
Thank you for your interest in the Early College HS (ECHS) magnet program!
You may reach Mr. Carlson, the North Garland High School Magnet Advisor Industry Liaison, by phone at 972-675-3120 x61301, and email.
The North Garland ECHS (Early College High School) is made up of a partnership between North Garland High School and Dallas College Richland Campus. This program offers students the opportunity to graduate with up to 60 college credits or an Associate's Degree for free. The North Garland ECHS students will conveniently attend courses inside a dedicated section of North Garland High School.
This allows students to experience college curriculum while participating in all of the organizations and extracurricular activities that North Garland High offers. These students will also have access to the Dallas College Richland campus and its resources.
The ECHS is limited to 125 students each year. This will allow students to be grouped in a small cohort to foster a tight-knit learning community. The ECHS is an extraordinary opportunity that could transform the life of your child.

Magnet Application Process and Timelines

For more information about the magnet application process and timelines, please visit the Garland ISD web site.
How To Apply
Choice of School / Magnet Application Dates:
January 7 - February 10, 2025
Please use the new Avela application to apply for magnet programs.
- Avela System Login information will be emailed to Skyward F1 contacts the first week of January. You will want to rank your school choices in the new Avela application system by preference, paying special attention to the Magnet/Non-Magnet indicator in the school title.
- The lottery system tries to match students with their choices in the order in which they’re listed, 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc., all the way through 6.
- After making a match, the program will add the student’s name to the waitlist of those schools that were ranked above the matched school.
- All schools ranked below the matched school are removed because they are less preferred than the matched school.
- If a magnet program finds a student not eligible, they will not be placed on the waitlist for that school option regardless of how the student ranked the school.
NEW!!!
Single Best Offer Results
Students will be given one school placement offer. There is no need to accept/decline a seat placement. Students will remain on the waitlist for any schools that were higher ranked choices.
