Focus on Literacy

With a continuing emphasis, North Garland is focusing on integrating campus and departmental literacy activities across all academic departments and all classrooms. Teachers have been challenged to augment their content curriculum with additional activities specifically designed to increase literacy achievement for all students.

Department Spotlight

The World Languages department took advantage of a departmental meeting to share examples of literacy activities being used by teachers in their classrooms.

Mr. Reina began the professional development session with a presentation on the topic "Vocabulary Building Strategies," and remarked, "To form better readers and writers, it all starts with vocabulary building - especially in the foreign language classrooms."
