North Garland offers two drill team options, a multi-cultural dance team, and a wide range of dance classes in several different genres.

Dance Teams
La Petites, JV Drill Team: perform at home JV football games, select basketball games, attend pep rallies, perform in the dance showcase and in the Mam’selles spring show along with other various events. Students must be in 8, 9, 10 or 11 grade to audition for JV drill team. La Petites is a single blocked class both semesters receiving credit for either a fine arts and/or PE substitute. They have weekly after school practices.
Mam’selles, Varsity Drill team: performs at all varsity football games, select basketball games, all NGHS pep rallies, and area competitions. The Mam’selle annual spring show in April and other various events. Tryouts are in April. Students must be in 9, 10, or 11 grade to audition. Mam’selles meet both A & B days during 1st period, with daily before school practice and some after school practices. This class is a fine arts and/or PE substitute credit.
World Dance Company: is an audition based dance group that celebrates different cultures through dance. They perform styles such as Mexican folklorico, kpop, hip hop, Bollywood and more at school and community events. Students must be in 8, 9, 10, or 11th grade to audition for the team. World Dance Company is one class period that offers a fine arts credit. They have weekly after school practices.
Dance Classes
Dance classes are offered at North Garland High School through several different genres, and include:
- Principles of Dance 1-4
- World Dance 1-4
- Drill Prep
- Drill Team
Each course is one class period with the exception of Mam’selles which is double blocked.
Principles of Dance 1-4 covers Ballet/Lyrical, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Hip hop, Cultural dance & independent choreography projects.
World Dance I-4 will cover dances from around the world including but not limited to Latin, African, Asian dance styles and more!
Drill Prep is offered to help prepare students for drill team tryouts. Anyone can take this course; no pre-requirements needed.
Students in our Principles of Dance 1-4, Drill Prep and World Dance 1-4 will have a performance opportunity each semester. Each dance course has an associated dance fee.
