Health Service at NGHS

Parents, there is an extraordinary opportunity happening at North Garland High School. GISD is providing additional health services for North Garland students during the school day, through a service called Hazel Health that is now available in the school health clinic.

GISD has made this service available to our families for all students at North Garland. All students can access these health services with a signed permission form, which must be returned by your student. Your student's A2 teachers are collecting the signed permission forms.

Students do not need insurance coverage to use this service, and it is available at no cost to families through this school year.

How It Works

1 Visit the School Health Clinic
When your student visits the school health clinic, they may talk with a doctor on a video call (similar to FaceTime).

2 Students Receive Care at School
Hazel doctors help determine the treatment needed and deliver care at school. With your permission, medications (like Tylenol) can be provided at school.

3 Parents Receive Information
Hazel sends families a full summary after a visit. If needed, Hazel can call in a prescription at your local pharmacy.

Is there a cost?

This service accepts all insurance, and accepts students who do not have insurance. Hazel visits may be automatically submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement and to better coordinate care.

Medicaid Families covered by Medicaid plans pay $0 when their child sees a Hazel doctor.

Other Insurance This school year, through July 2020, Hazel will not bill your insurance company. The cost of service is covered by Garland ISD and Hazel, so you pay $0. Beginning in August 2020, Hazel may submit to your insurance and a co-pay may be possible.

No Insurance Hazel and GISD partner together to cover the cost of care for students without insurance, so families without insurance pay $0.

To participate, parents and guardians must send back the signed permission form to be turned in to your student's A2 teacher.

Parents, welcome to the North Garland High School! Our goal is to provide resources here especially helpful for parents both in supporting your students, and in becoming more involved at North Garland High School.

One important resource available to parents is gained by setting up your Skyward Family Access account. With Skyward, parents and students have an easy-to-access line of communication to current attendance, grades, course schedules and more.

Parents, we also want to invite you to participate in campus and district activities! Volunteer opportunities are an excellent way to become involved. For more information, please visit our Volunteer pages, and our Campus Improvement and Parent Involvement page.

Thank you, and welcome to North Garland High School!
