Bison camp

Each year in August, before school officially begins, O'Banion invites all incoming 6th graders to Bison Camp, which is a 6th grade transition program. In this full-day camp, our newest Bison learn what it means to be a Bison. They also get a few tips from AVID 8th graders.

Career Day

On career day, speakers from all over the metroplex come to O'Banion and share their career story with the students. Career Day usually takes place in the fall semester. Over fifty speakers presented at, here is an example from what your student can expect on Career Day

Great Bison pick up

Parents are given an opportunity to pick up their children's report cards and speak with teachers. The Great Bison Pick-up is held twice a year - in the fall and in the spring.

Night of the Arts

Each year O'Banion hosts a "Night of the Arts" for students and their families to celebrate the Fine Arts Programs. The Bison band, choir and theatre perform for the audience.

Principal's coffee

Principal's Coffee is offered every-other month. Mrs. Garcia meets parents in the library for an informal discussion. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, this is the place for you to be.

Meet the Teacher
Different from the Great Bison Pick-up, the Meet the Teacher Night is held early in the year before any report cards have been given out. This event is a great opportunity to visit your child's school and meet their teachers.

Science Fair
The O'Banion science students participate in the Science Fair each year. Stay tuned for details regarding this year's Science Fair.

Science Saturday
Students are welcome to attend this hands-on, interactive morning of science. Perot Museum representatives join us in the O'Banion gym several times each year. They demonstrated how electricity works, the forces of gravity, and other fun topics. The science teachers also offer a Science Saturday several times each semester.
