Come one, come all! O'Banion Middle School offers a variety of activities and organizations that students may join. Most of these organizations are open to any student who would like to join. We highly encourage students to join and get more involved.
Student Council

The Student Council is open to all students. The student council is a nationally recognized leadership and service organization. O'Banion Student Council has received many awards from the National Park Service for the past two years for their participation in Earth Day Texas. The Student Council coordinates the canned food drive each fall as well as many other service activities.

Junior LIGHT Brigade

Meet on Fridays, twice per month
The LIGHT Brigade is a peer support group/organization made up of students dedicated to remaining drug and alcohol-free and advocating for a safer environment in the school community. The focus is on education and prevention programs relating to issues such as drugs and alcohol, suicide, healthy relationships, bullying, etc.
Membership is open throughout the year. Interested students should see any counselor for an application or come to a Friday LIGHT brigade meeting.
National Junior Honor Society

The National Junior Honor Society is one of the premier organizations in the country that recognizes outstanding middle school students.
These students demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Pentathlon

Students in the 7th and 8th grade compete as individuals and as team members in a series of five academic tests. The categories are Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies and a Super Quiz.
This event often serves as preparation for the rigorous high school Academic Decathlon competition.
