Parents

We thank you for being active in your student's education and helping them accomplish their goals. Parent support and involvement makes a positive difference by elevating student academic performance and increasing achievements.

Parent Workshops

GISD offers workshops throughout the year on effective parenting strategies, ideas on how to get more involved, and information to help your child be successful in school and in life. Past workshops have included topics such as:

  • bullying

  • parent involvement
  • motivating children
  • cybersafety
  • teen dating violence
  • substance abuse

Parent Involvement

Students with involved parents, no matter what their income or background, are more likely to:

  • earn high grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs
  • pass their classes, earn credits, and be promoted
  • attend school regularly
  • graduate and go on to postsecondary education

Make sure you know all of our school policies and procedures.
