Our garden provides a place for experiential "hands-on" learning, while fostering a passion for healthy living, and environmental stewardship.
In addition to garden lessons, students will be participating in two "Garden Days" this school year, one in the fall and one in the spring to coincide with the planting seasons. The students will rotate through various stations led by volunteers which will include vegetable planting, native prairie, butterfly garden, outdoor library, nutrition, composting, and garden art. It is rewarding to see the excitement on our student's faces when the garden brings learning to life!
Folklorico is a traditional Mexican dance that emphasizes local folk culture with ballet characteristics. We offer after school lessons in this style of dance which will include traditional folklorico attire and performances!

Park Crest is proud to be a CATCH campus. CATCH stands for Coordinated Approach to Childhood Health and is a school wide program with the goal of improving the health of our students. Students learn a common language which includes GO, SLOW, WHOA, to identify foods that are the healthiest, less healthy, and least healthy. The goal is to eat more GO foods than SLOW foods, and to eat WHOA foods only in small amounts.
GO describes foods like whole grains, unprocessed fruits and vegetables, low in fat, and low in added sugar.
