As the Parsons Pre-K Counselor, I want to help you and your child have a positive early childhood experience. My role is an important part of the social and educational development of all students. If students are having difficulties at home or school, they may be referred for my assistance by parents or the classroom teacher.

Mrs. King can:

-counsel individual students

-work with small groups of children with similar concerns

-consult with teachers and parents 

-coordinate referrals to community resources

-be a source of information for parents

Counselors for each campus are certified by the state of Texas in School Counseling, have a Master’s Degree, and previous teaching experience. Each elementary school has a guidance counselor to help ensure that adequate support to help students to succeed and meet their goals is available.

Mrs. King provides school-wide classroom guidance lessons that focus on academic, career, and social/emotional skills. These developmentally appropriate lessons are conducted in the classrooms monthly. We use visuals,  classroom lessons, and discussions to help students become more proficient at expressing their emotions and developing relationship skills. Our students practice self- awareness, self-control, social awareness, and self-management skills every day!
