Principal
Principal's Welcome
I have been the principal of this great school since 2019. As your principal, it is my sincere pleasure and honor to serve this community and its students. We provide the very best educational environment for all of our students. I’m truly enthusiastic to serve Pearson in this capacity and to continue my journey as an educator!
I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 2007. I also hold two Master of Education degrees, from Texas A & M University at Commerce, in Educational Administration and Curriculum and Instruction. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision. As an educator for twelve years, my teaching experience spans positions such as serving as an assistant principal in Garland ISD, most recently at Vernal Lister Elementary and for three years at Vernon Schrade Middle School. I started my career at Walnut Glen Academy teaching music before having the great pleasure to teach various subjects to 3rd through 5th grade students. I have a deep love for teaching children and fostering a strong connection between the educational and social-emotional needs of each student!
My greatest initiative is to work together and with our families, to provide differentiated learning opportunities, continuing inspiration and academic challenges for our students with engaging experiences in and outside the classroom.
I look forward to meeting with each of you very soon!
Cherelle Wilson, M.Ed.
Assistant Principal
I am beyond excited for this opportunity to serve as your Assistant Principal! I attended GISD from 4th-12th grade, and I love working within the community that has given me so much. The best part of my career has always been the people around me. I genuinely enjoy coming to work and working with students, families, and staff. I am driven by the generational impact that education makes in student’s lives along with the responsibility that we hold as educators.
Outside of my career, I am also very busy at home. My husband and I have been blessed with two daughters, Mila and Ava Grace. Any time they are together, it’s strong sisterly love constantly interrupted by the need for frequent reminders to share, not fight, and be nice. Needless to say, we have our hands full but between daily prayers, coffee, visits to grandma, and Peppa Pig… we got this!
I know firsthand that it takes a community to raise a child. I want to provide the best environment and education to children in order to open doors for future opportunities. I am humbled to now be a part of your community as an educator and to help lay the foundation for those opportunities.
I am ready to help and work alongside all the Pearson community to continue the tradition of educational excellence that Pearson holds not only in the Rowlett community but in all of Garland ISD. Feel free to come by any time and say hello, I am here to serve in any way I can.
Counselor
Greetings Pearson families! My name is Melissa Baag and I am the school counselor. I have been in education since 2006. As some of you may know, I taught Kindergarten at Pearson for the past 12 years before transitioning into a counselor. I graduated from UT Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development. In addition, I have a master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University in Counseling and Development. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Jae for five years and we both enjoy traveling as well as serving in our church ministries.
As a school counselor, I am here to help each student with their academic, career, and social/emotional needs by meeting with them individually or in small groups. I will be working with teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians to help all students reach their fullest potential in school and beyond. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you would like for me to meet with your child or if you have any questions/concerns. I am very excited to serve as your school counselor this year and look forward to meeting you. It is my hope that this school year will be full of successful experiences for all students.
