Mrs Cogley (Music) and Ms Wiechamn (Art)
Music Pic

This week in music, we mastered our opening song for every grade level! First and Second grade learned a piece called "Buenos Dias." Third grade learned a piece called, "I got the Rhythm." Fourth and Fifth grade learned a piece called, "Good morning." All of these pieces include movements and rhythmic phrases the students love!

Fourth and Fifth grade parents, please be on the lookout for a choir audition handout, and a recorder order form in your Thursday Folders!

Kindergarten got to play tambourines for the first time, and Pre-K played the bells, triangles, and rhythm sticks. Both grades were introduced to movement exploration and moved like various animals at the end of class. We cannot wait to add more instruments for our littlest Bobcats next week!

Art

Greetings Parents! My name is Mrs. Wiechman, and I am the Art Teacher for Rowlett Elementary. What a wonderful first week we have had. I am so excited about this year. The students are demonstrating they have retained the skills from last year and are ready for the challenges this year will bring. We are embracing the gold theme with an Olympic idea in our work. This is not new for the students who are familiar with “going for the Gold” mindset. In saying this our students excelled in Art last year with us receiving a District of Distinction from the State of Texas. Many of our students received top marks from their evaluators and even a perfect score. In the upcoming weeks, we as a student body will be transforming our cafeteria into an Olympic Village. So, if you have any used water bottles, please have your student bring them to the Art Room. We will be making large murals and sculptures with a mock stained glass torch flame. We have great plans for this year, and I can’t wait to see the fabulous work our students will be creating.

If you have any questions, please reach out and I will respond within 24 hours. Thank you again for allowing me to be your child’s art teacher.
