Dear Schrade Middle School Parents and Students, 

 It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the Principal of Vernon Schrade Middle School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community.  I am very excited to be part of this school and to support the students and families. 

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Dallas Baptist University, my educational career began in 2004 where I taught Algebra I at a comprehensive high school in the Dallas area. From 2007 to 2013, I taught math in two Early College High School settings. During my six year tenure at ECHS, I was instrumental in helping both campuses achieve and maintain Exemplary status. In 2009, I received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas later transitioning to the position of STEM Instructional Coach in 2013.  In 2015, I joined the Garland ISD family as an Assistant Principal at Webb Middle School. 

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.  My favorite pastimes include shopping, attending concerts and musicals.  

I am committed to implementing a shared vision where every student can and will be successful, and I strongly believe that my background as an instructional leader will enable me to help meet the needs of students, teachers, and the entire Schrade community.  I am confident that I will continue to learn from you as well, and that together we will reach new heights.

 I passionately believe in my ability to prepare all students to be lifelong learners and responsible, productive citizens equipped to meet the challenges of a global society.  My mission is to create a safe environment that fosters unique learning opportunities that will improve academic achievement for all students and supports the development of 21st century and social/emotional skills.  

 Education is a life-long process and I expect to continue to learn much about the uniqueness of Schrade Middle School this year and in the years to come.   Most importantly, I bring a belief that student academic and social-emotional success is the center of every decision we make.  I am excited to share my experience, my openness to learn, and my student-driven approach to Schrade Middle School.  The bond between families and the school is vital to the success of our students. I encourage you to become involved in every way possible.  I look forward to meeting you soon!

Dear Schrade Middle School Parents and Students,

I am delighted to introduce myself as Ms. Rosheeka A. Johnson, your new Assistant Principal at Vernon Schrade Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. With 17 years of dedicated experience in education, I bring a deep commitment to fostering student success and creating a positive learning environment.

I hold a Bachelor of Science from Florida A&M University and a Master of Education from Southern Methodist University, which have equipped me with a strong foundation in educational leadership and advocacy. My educational journey started in 2007 when my longing for a rewarding career developed. Surrounded by educator friends and family I was “drafted” into the field of education and I have not looked back. I previously taught in Dallas ISD for 11 years in the areas of Inclusion Math, vocational skills, and compliance serving 3 southern sector high schools. For the past five years, I have had the privilege of serving as Assistant Principal at Sam Houston Middle School, where my leadership and advocacy have left an indelible mark.

As I embark on this new chapter at Schrade Middle School, I am filled with enthusiasm and optimism. My educational philosophy revolves around the belief that "All children can learn if given an equitable opportunity." This philosophy drives my commitment to equity, ensuring that every student receives the support, services, and resources they need to thrive academically and personally.

At Schrade Middle School, I will oversee several key areas including 6th-grade discipline, Reading Language Arts, Special Education, Gifted and Talented programs, and the New Teacher Academy. Additionally, I will serve as Testing Coordinator, ensuring the smooth administration of assessments crucial to student progress.

I am passionate about creating a positive school environment where discipline serves as a learning opportunity. I believe strongly in accountability and the importance of guiding students to make wise decisions that will shape their future positively.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending time with my daughter Eve and our dog Shema. I am an avid reader and actively participate in community speaking events where I advocate for effective educational practices and policies.

I am excited to collaborate with each of you—students, parents, and staff—to continue building upon Schrade Middle School's tradition of excellence. Together, we will foster an environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

Hello, my name is Albert Buckles and I am extremely excited to be Assistant Principal at Schrade Middle School! I believe that building relationships with students, staff, and families, all contribute to the overall success of our school. Student learning and achievement, academically and socially, is a priority that relates directly to their success. Preparing students for a successful and productive life after they leave Schrade is what we shall strive for each and every day. My “Why” is to positively and significantly impact the lives of students through Life Lessons that will help them navigate the ups and downs of life as they mature.

I am a native of Austin, Texas. I am married to my wife Tammi, and I have a stepdaughter, Maria, who works in the music industry in New York City. I enjoy officiating NCAA Men’s College Basketball, golf and golf vacations, watching sports, reading, exercising, staycations, and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to the opportunity to meet each of you, and building a positive and uplifting culture at Schrade Middle School!
