Academic Pentathlon is a competition based on the academic subjects of Math, Social Studies, Science, Fine Arts, and Language Arts. 7thand 8thgrade teams made up of students from all academic levels (A, B, and C averages from last year) will compete against teams from other Garland ISD middle schools in a district competition as well as with teams from other North Texas schools in a regional competition. Both competitions take place in the spring.
“The Chess Champs” is for all grade levels and all skill levels. Students may join this club at anytime. Meetings are every other Thursday until 5pm. This club and Environmental club rotate with one meeting each Thursday.
We have many levels of Choir available for students during the school day and includes a few concerts in the evenings. Our choir program is known for building musical skills as well as building friendship and community between students.
This club is responsible for tending the vegetable garden, drought tolerant garden, orchard, pond and the cleaning up of our outside school environment. We want our award winning Outdoor Environmental Learning Center to be a place of wonder and learning for everyone. Membership is open to anyone who wants to make a difference in their environment and students can join at any time. Meetings are held every other Thursday until 4:45pm.
Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.
