Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures:

The safety of our students is our top priority.  In our back-to-school newsletter, arrival and dismissal procedures were clearly outlined to ensure an orderly process was followed for student  drop-off and pickup.  Last week, we added safety cones as an additional safety precaution.  Since adding these safety cones, we have noticed some vehicles unsafely stopping in front of the school attempting to wait for their student(s) for extended periods of time.  This causes a traffic flow delay for all other parents/guardians resulting in blockages in traffic on campus as well as the main roadway.  To prevent traffic delays and potential accidents, we ask that you not prohibit the flow of traffic in this manner.

Dismissal Tips:

  • Establish a designated time and place to reunite with your student.
  • If there is a change in transportation plans notify your student at 4:11 p.m. by cell phone. For students without a device, you may contact the school prior to 4:00 p.m. and our office staff will relay the message to your student.
  • Follow the directional flow of traffic always keeping the safety of students and other drivers in mind.
  • NEVER BLOCK THE BUS LANES. Drivers should never drop off nor pick up on the side designated for GISD buses.  You will be asked to move your vehicle.
