It is with great pride and excitement to introduce myself as the newly appointed principal of Sewell Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year. As your new principal, I wholeheartedly accept the responsibility of ensuring the success of all of our students and helping to create a trusting and supportive school environment for everyone.
I have been in education for 25 years. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies, English and Reading Specialization, from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. My career started in my hometown, Friendswood, TX where I taught 3rd grade. My husband was transferred to the DFW area in 1998 and we have been in the area since then. I taught 4th grade at Spring Creek Elementary in Garland our first year here. The last 22 years have been spent in Plano ISD where I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade, was an instructional coach and an assistant principal.
I have been married to my husband, Robert, for 31 years. We have 4 children, Caedyn (29), Clayton (25), Connor (22) and Macey (19). Caedyn attends Gonzaga University, Clayton and Macey attend Texas Tech and Connor is working on becoming a chef. They still keep us very busy. I also have 2 Labrador Retrievers, Winter and Autumn. I love spending time with friends and traveling.
I am committed to implementing a shared vision where every student can and will be successful, and I strongly believe that my background as an instructional leader will enable me to help meet the needs of students, teachers, and the entire Sewell community. I am confident that I will continue to learn from you as well, and that together we will reach new heights.
