After every grading cycle we celebrate our student successes during our Awards Assemblies!  Our Sewell Seahawks are recognized for A-Honor Roll, A/B-Honor Roll, the Super Seahawk Award, as well as 2-3 academic distinctions.  

Seahawk Ambassadors is an organization of students who work towards improving their school and community. Seahawk Ambassadors are made up of representatives from each 5^th grade classroom. The Seahawk Ambassadors will meet monthly to coordinate school projects.

Sewell Seahawk Compliment Card Program

At Sewell Elementary, we believe in the power of kindness, respect, and positive behavior. That’s why every student is given a Compliment Card—a fun and meaningful way to recognize and celebrate good deeds throughout the school day.

Whenever a student receives a compliment from a teacher or staff member, their card gets a punch. As students collect more compliments, they level up through a series of milestones, earning exciting rewards and recognition along the way.

This program helps foster a culture of encouragement and empathy, where students are motivated to support one another and make thoughtful choices. It’s not just about rewards—it’s about building character and community.

We’re proud of our Seahawks and the way they lift each other up every day!

Every year our Seahawks participate in an amazing mentoring partnership program between Sewell Elementary and the Sachse High School baseball team.  Each week the students will meet with their high school mentor (a member of the Sachse baseball team) for 30 minutes of academic assistance, reading time, and/or character-building activities during the school day. The Sachse boys will provide our students with encouragement and mentoring, while our students will teach the high school students the value of community service and involvement. During the spring when baseball season is at its height, the high school boys will not be able to visit, but will continue their mentorship through letter writing and a possible visit to a Sachse Baseball game.

Our Second Grade classes take field trip every fall to the Larry H. Glick GISD Natatorium! 

GISD plans to teach every second-grader aquatic safety and how to swim during customized week-long programs. 

Sewell Elementary is excited to participate annually in the Red Ribbon Campaign.  

National Red Ribbon week will be filled with many different lessons designed to engage and educate our students while encouraging their participation in drug prevention activities.  Our school counselors, Mrs. Allen and Ms. Stancil , will be visiting all of our Sewell Seahawks with important lessons about drug prevention.

This creative national theme was submitted by Cheryl Holsapfel, Digital Art Teacher, and Devanash Aggarwal from Solon Middle School. It serves as a powerful reminder that ordinary Americans nationwide contribute significantly to their communities every day by embracing a drug-free lifestyle.

Every year Sewell Seahawks participate in the annual GISD Canned Food Drive.  

Here are some helpful tips when donating food items:

• focus on healthy foods such as canned meats, canned vegetables, soup, rice, and pasta.
• avoid high sodium products such as Ramen Noodles
• please no expired food because donation centers have to throw it out

Rain or shine Coach Colwell puts together fun activities and contests for all our Sewell Seahawks to participate in at the year's end!
