South Garland High School has a wide variety of activities for students to get involved in. Listed below are the classes, clubs, and organizations South offers. Whether it is the Sentries, gaming club, or Step, we hope that all of our students will find a group or organization that best fits their interests. It's great to be a Colonel.
SGHS cheerleaders provide spirit and support at athletic and school events throughout the year. We have two cheerleading squades. There is a Varsity cheer squad, which is made up of both juniors and seniors, a Junior Varsity cheer squad made up of sophomores and freshman.

The award-winning Southern Belles is the Varsity Drill Team at South Garland High School. Try-outs are required for students to be members of this organization. Southern Belles is only open to 10th-12th grade students. Tryouts are held in the spring to choose members for the line for the succeeding school year.
HOSA is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health occupations instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.
HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in HSE programs. HOSA is 100% health care!
HOSA's mission is especially critical when considering the acute shortage of qualified workers for the health care industry.
