Quick Start Guide to GreenLight Locker

If the University is not found in the dropdown menu, the student needs to send the transcript via email. Click send to "Employer/Other (via email)". The student would then enter the email address for the University that they would like to send the transcript to. That email address can usually be found on the University's website or the student could call the admissions office to obtain it. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE TRANSCRIPT - this makes it unofficial.

Quick Start GreenLight Registration Directions (printable directions)

Note: If you already have a GreenLightLocker.com account because you are Texas College Bridge ENG and/or MATH, then there is no need to register again on GreenLightLocker.com. Please go directly to Step 3:

Note: If you already have a GreenLightLocker.com account because you are taking courses at Dallas College and have already registered on GreenLight, then there is no need to register again on GreenLightLocker.com. Please go directly to Step 4:

Step 1: Visit greenlightlocker.com/register 

Option 1:

• Select “I’m a student” and from the drop down select “I’m looking for an enrollment code”
• Enter all required information to receive your enrollment code. Copy the enrollment code.
• Select “I’m a student” and from the drop down select “I have an enrollment code”.
• Paste the enrollment code in the appropriate field, enter your date of birth and last name. The last name must be entered as it appears in your school record. (If it has a hyphen or space, please be sure to include it)
• Once your information matches, you will be shown the registration form, fill out all required fields, select a username and a 12-digit password with at least one upper case and one special character such as # or $ sign

Option 2:

• Select ”I’m a student” and from the drop down select “Register without an enrollment code”.
• Enter your institution, student ID, date of birth and last name. The last name must be entered as it appears in your school record (If it has a hyphen or space, please be sure to include it)
• Once your information matches, you will be shown the registration form, fill out all required fields, select a username and a 12-digit password with at least one upper case and one special character such as # or $ sign

Step 2: You will receive an activation email upon registration. Click on the activation email and you log in using the username and password you created during registration.

Step 3:  Click on “My Credentials” and then click on “Request Transcript”. You will see your transcript.

• To send the transcript to a college, click on the share icon and select “Send Credentials to Academic Institution” radio button. Type the name of the University in the “Send To” field. As you are typing, some suggestions will be shown to you. Select the one that matches the educational institution you want to send it to, agree to the terms of user and click on the “Share” button.
• Hint: start typing “univ” and you will see all the ones that start with “University of…”.
• To send the transcript to a college or employer via email, click on the share icon and select “Send Credentials to Employer (via email)”. Type the email address of the recipient in the appropriate fields, agree to the terms of user and click on the “Share” button.

Step 4:  If you already have a GreenLightLocker.com account from Dallas College or another University.

• Log into your account and visit your profile by clicking on your name in the far right top corner ⮚ Click on “Claim Credentials”
• Paste your enrollment code in the box and click on “Verify & Add” button. You should now see your High School transcript in your locker.

If students are under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian must also register and sign a FERPA release form to give authorization. The parent/guardian must use the same enrollment code as the student.

All Students 18 years and over can do the following:

On the Greenlight Locker Website - please follow the steps below to access/share your transcript.

• Select "I AM A STUDENT"
• From the dropdown menu, select "Register without enrollment code"
• In the Select Institution field, type "Garland ISD"
• Enter the Garland student ID, date of birth, and last name. 
• Click on Validate,
  • Some information will populate. You will be prompted to create an account and validate it through your email. 
  • Accept FERPA

*FOR COLLEGES YOU MUST SELECT THE SHARE OPTION*
*DOWNLOADING CREATES AN UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT*

NOTE: If you already have an account on GreenLightLocker.com through another school (such as DCCCD), there is no need to register again. Please follow these steps:

1. Log into your account on a computer and navigate to your profile by clicking on your name in the top right corner. 
2. Click on "Claim Credentials" and paste your GreenLight enrollment code. Press the "Verify & Add" button. You should now see your transcript in your GreenLight Locker.

POSSIBLE ISSUE: I Don't See My College in the Dropdown List

If this happens, you may have to email your transcript to the college’s admissions office or send it to the email address given to you from your college.

Use the Greenlight E-mail Option.

You do not need to send the email address to us at South Garland to do it for you. You have access to your official transcript in Greenlight. Remember the transcript in Greenlight you are emailing is an official copy from Garland ISD.

The key is to NEVER download, attach and then Send your transcript through your PERSONAL E-MAIL—when you are sending an OFFICAL COPY.

You must use the e-mail feature in Greenlight.

In Greenlight look for Send to Employer/Other (via e-mail).

Greenlight prepares and sends an “official” transcript to the email address you enter.

POSSIBLE ISSUE: My College Doesn't Do Greenlight

Sometimes when you are told this, you may have incorrectly attempted to send the transcript the first time. Or some colleges are not familiar with Greenlight and so their first response is we have never heard of it and so we don’t do it.  

So, if you are given an email address to send the transcript, please use the Email feature in Greenlight.  Ask your college, is there an email address you can send the transcript to then email through Greenlight.  

Look for Send to Employer/Other (via email) Greenlight prepares and sends an “official” transcript to the email address you have entered.

IF SENDING AN OFFICIAL COPY--DO NOT DOWNLOAD or PRINT or ATTACH the transcript to your personal email ---this makes it UNOFFICAL, and they will not accept the transcript. And so “they don’t do Greenlight” means the way you are presenting the transcript is incorrect to them. Only download the transcript if you are asked for an Unofficial Copy-otherwise e-mail through Greenlight.

POSSIBLE ISSUE: They Need the Transcript to Come From the School

The transcript you have in Greenlight is your official transcript. If you are sharing it incorrectly, the college or employer may feel you are not working with official records. 

You should ALWAYS be the person to send your transcript. It no longer must come from the campus. This is the sole purpose of having your Greenlight account. We are giving you full control of your records! 

But you must make sure you are sharing your transcript by either selecting your college in the drop down OR if you don’t see your college then send the transcript VIA GREENLIGHT EMAIL to your college admissions email address.

POSSIBLE ISSUE: I See My Dallas College Not My Garland ISD Records

If you already have a GreenLightLocker.com account because you are taking courses at Dallas College and have already registered on Greenlight, then there is no need to register again on GreenLightLocker.com.  

If you don’t see both your Garland ISD and Dallas College Records in your Greenlight account, you may have to contact Greenlight directly. South Garland CANNOT help with this. You must go through Greenlight. This will take time so if you are struggling do not wait to contact Greenlight. Follow this in Greenlight and wait for their response:  

• Click on Contact Us 

• Under Reason: Type Possibly need to Merge into One Account or Check for Multiple Accounts 

• In the Message: Give them your Dallas College ID and give details of what’s happening hopefully they can see what the problem could be

POSSIBLE ISSUE: Where Does It Show the Transcript was Sent?

Within your Greenlight account use the “Share Activity” Tab—this will show you where and when your transcript was sent for tracking purposes. You can consider this a record of when the transcript was sent and to whom. This will ensure the correct school or email was used.  

Please remember that it takes time to receive and process your transcripts so make sure you meet deadlines issued by your colleges and know they have a lot of students to service so allow time to process your transcript. For some schools it takes 2-3 weeks. Your submission through Greenlight is instant but they have a lot to go through.
