Administration
Principal, Claudia V. Sáenz
Principal's message:
I feel blessed, honored, and humbled to serve the Shorehaven community. I am committed to working with students, staff, parents, and community members to meet the needs of all our students and help them reach their highest potential. I believe that all children can learn, and I am dedicated to supporting every student in achieving academic, social, and emotional success.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-4 Bilingual Teacher Certification, a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with Dual Language Emphasis from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M Commerce. My educational journey began 18 years ago in the wonderful district of Garland ISD. I served as a bilingual teacher for nine years at Routh Roach Elementary, followed by six years as an assistant principal at the same school. Most recently, I had the honor of serving the Golden Meadows Elementary community as principal for three years, and now I am privileged to be the principal of Shorehaven Elementary.
At Shorehaven, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and collaborative school community that values diversity, the whole child, high expectations, and student success. It is wonderful to be part of the Shorehaven family, and it is a pleasure to serve and work with all of you. I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
Assistant Principal, Vanessa Huff
Assistant Principal's message:
My name is Vanessa Huff, and I am the Assistant Principal at Shorehaven Elementary. I received my BS in Elementary Education and my Masters in Education Administration from Texas A&M Commerce. After graduating from Texas A&M Commerce, I began my career as a primary teacher in Mesquite ISD. In 2010, I moved to Garland ISD to teach an Intermediate grade, followed by two years in a campus support position where I assisted teachers in instruction, behavior practice, and classroom management strategies.
I am deeply committed to improving academic achievement and building lifelong learning skills for all students. I am especially interested in instructional best practices that support the unique learning needs of students from multicultural and socially diverse backgrounds.
I enjoy watching football and soccer, camping, and being an involved mom in my spare time. I am married and the mother of three beautiful children.
I look forward to helping our students reach their full potential while meeting their social and emotional needs.
