Policies & procedures

Arrival and dismissal

All students should be dropped off at the front of the building. Although there are two car lanes in front of the building, the second lane is reserved for flowing traffic and Emergency Vehicles. The right lane will be used to safely drop-off and pick up students.

It is dangerous to stop in the middle of Shorehaven Dr. and Peace Rose for drop-off and pick-up. Safe practices are essential for you and your child.

If you choose to go through the car lanes during our dismissal, you must present your car tag to participate in the valet service. Car tag replacements are available in the front office for a cost of $1.00.

Car riders

Pre-K-1 at the back of the building and 2nd-5th grades at the front of the building. If students have an older sibling they will be picked up with the student in the highest grade.

Walkers

Pre-K -5th grade will exit by the Cafeteria on the Peace Rose side of the building. Students will not be released to parents blocking traffic, walkers are expected to walk home immediately after dismissal.

A written note is required to change your child’s regular riding/dismissal routine. Notes should contain your child’s first and last name, the date, your specific riding instructions, and the name of your child’s teacher.  If you have changes please contact your child’s teacher or the front office prior to 2:30 p.m.

Absences and tardies

Students should be in attendance at all times unless ill and a doctors note may be required.  Students will need a signed note from their parents when they have been absent and students should give these notes to their homeroom teacher.

If it is necessary for a child to be excused from school early for a doctor’s appointment, etc., that information will be handled through the office.  To ensure that your child is in the classroom the maximum amount of time, he or she will be called out of class upon your arrival. Picture identification is required before signing your child out of school.

Students are tardy after 8:10 a.m.  Students arriving after 8:20 a.m. or who leave before regular dismissal are subsequent to receive a partial day absence. Students are considered absent after 10:00 a.m. Students must be in attendance 90% of the school year in order to receive credit for the year. Send a signed note to the front office following each absence. Be sure to include your child's ID number on the note to reduce clerical errors.

In the event your child will be missing several days of school due to illness, please call the school.
