Music teacher, Lesdy Dueñez
Bachelor of Music, EC-12 certified
Orff-Schulwerk certified
In our music class, we sing, move, and play—making music beautifully every step of the way!
My name is Mrs. Dueñez, and I am honored to be the music teacher at Shorehaven Elementary. This is my 6th year at Shorehaven, and I am excited for another wonderful school year of music-making with our students!
I earned my Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Arlington and completed my Orff Schulwerk certification at Southern Methodist University, which has deeply shaped my approach to teaching music through creativity, movement, and exploration.
I am passionate about guiding students through a rich musical journey where they explore musical concepts through singing, dancing, playing instruments, movement, and creative discovery. Students develop the skills to read, perform, and appreciate music while making meaningful connections to other subjects and real-world experiences.
Our music classroom is a place where creativity thrives, community grows, and diversity is celebrated. Every student’s voice matters, and together, we create an environment where each child feels valued as an essential part of our ensemble.
"Music brings us together, no matter where we’re from."
Eagle Honor Choir
The Eagle Honor Choir is a dedicated ensemble of talented fourth- and fifth-grade students. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 3:30–4:15 p.m., and members perform at school and in the community throughout the year. The choir focuses on formal vocal techniques, giving students a rich and well-rounded musical experience.
Choir participation offers more than the joy of singing—it helps students build confidence, reduce stress, strengthen teamwork, and form lasting friendships. Through collaboration and performance, students grow as musicians and individuals while developing character, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
Singing in a choir is about more than learning notes—it’s about sharing the beauty of music and making a meaningful impact together.
