Music teacher: Lesdy Dueñez
Bachelor of Music, EC-12 certified
Orff-Schulwerk certified

In our music class, we sing, move, and play—making music beautifully every step of the way!

My name is Mrs. Dueñez, and I am honored to be the music teacher at Shorehaven Elementary. I am passionate about guiding students through a rich musical journey, where they will explore musical concepts through singing, dancing, playing instruments, movement, and creative discovery. Students will develop the skills to read, perform, and appreciate music while making meaningful connections to other subjects and real-world experiences.

Our music classroom is a place where creativity thrives, community grows, and diversity is celebrated. Every student’s voice matters, and together, we create an environment where each child feels valued as an essential part of our ensemble.

Music tips for parents

🎵 Encourage Musical Exploration – Expose your child to different genres and styles of music.
🎤 Sing Together – Singing nursery rhymes, lullabies, or favorite songs helps with language development.
🥁 Provide Simple Instruments – Household items like pots, wooden spoons, or shakers make great instruments!
🎧 Listen Actively – Ask your child about the music they hear—what instruments they notice, how it makes them feel, etc.
📚 Connect Music to Learning – Use songs to help with memorization, from the alphabet to math facts.
🎼 Support School Music Activities – Encourage participation in choir, band, or music clubs.
💃 Move to the Music – Dancing and clapping along to the beat improves coordination and rhythm.
🎭 Attend Live Performances – Whether school concerts or community events, live music inspires kids!
🤗 Make Music Fun & Stress-Free – Avoid pressure and let kids enjoy making music at their own pace.

Eagle Honor Choir

The Eagle Honor Choir is a dedicated ensemble composed of talented fourth and fifth-grade students. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., and members have the opportunity to perform both at school and within the community throughout the year. Our choir focuses on developing formal vocal techniques and exploring Orff Ensemble pieces, providing students with a well-rounded musical experience.

Participating in choir offers numerous benefits beyond the joy of making music. It fosters confidence, reduces stress, and encourages teamwork, all while creating lasting friendships. Through performance and collaboration, students not only enhance their musical abilities but also build strong character, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging within their community.

Singing in a choir is more than just learning notes—it’s about growing as musicians and individuals, sharing the beauty of music, and making a meaningful impact on the world around us.
