Shorehaven is pleased to offer free breakfast to all students. Breakfast is served in the classrooms daily from 7:50 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. To ensure your student has sufficient time to eat before instruction begins, please make sure they arrive at school by 7:50 a.m.

• Lunch will be free for all students at Shorehaven.
• Students should bring lunch to school if they do not wish to eat the free meal provided in the cafeteria. No meal drop off please, as we do not have the personnel to deliver the meals.
• Starting October 2026 one visitor/parent will be allowed to come to eat lunch with their children. We will use the first nine weeks of school to teach the students processes and procedures. This will also give our students the opportunity to collaborate socially with peers and adjust to their schedule. Afterwards, lunch visitors will be welcomed according to the schedule below.

• Daily: Each teacher will communicate with parents their method of daily communication.
• Weekly: Each Wednesday, students will bring home a folder with schoolwork, school flyers and information. Please sign that you have read these materials and return the folder to school the next day.
• Monthly: An electronic newsletter will be sent from the school each month, which will also include grade-level updates.
  ClassDojo: ClassDojo is essential. It is the one-stop-shop to stay current with what is going on in your child's classroom and at Shorehaven Elementary. Please download the application and be on the lookout for the invite from your child's teacher. 
• ParentSquare: A centralized platform to manage all district and classroom communication, sign digital forms, view calendars, and message staff directly—all customizable to your preferred language and notification settings.

The school staff can only dispense prescription medication in the original, properly labeled container, which includes the student's name and dosage information, and prescribed by a physician. A note from a parent directing us to dispense medication is also required. Over-the-counter medications like Tylenol or Benadryl can be dispensed if it is in the original, properly labeled container and a Garland ISD Health Services "Physician's Order for Over-the-Counter" form is on file in the clinic. Parents can come to the school during the day and give their child medication.

For the safety of our students and staff, please follow these entry procedures during school hours:

1. Entry: All visitors must enter and exit through the front doors. Please ring the doorbell to gain access to the building.

2. Check-In: Once inside, please present a valid photo ID to our office staff to be scanned through our Raptor security system.

3. Visitor Badge: You will receive a temporary, dated badge that must be worn visibly throughout your visit.

4. Contacting Students/Teachers: Our office staff is happy to help you reach your child or their teacher. To protect valuable instructional time, classrooms will only be interrupted in the event of an emergency.
