Principal
Mrs. Thomason has been in education for 25 years. She began in Lewisville ISD as a middle school social studies teacher. In 2003 Mrs. Thomason moved to Garland and taught at both Sam Houston and South Garland before becoming a Social Studies Instructional Design Facilitator for 8 years.
Mrs. Thomason began her administration career at Weaver Elementary where she served as assistant principal for 3 years and principal for four years. In 2023 she moved to Walnut Glen Academy for Excellence. This year Mrs. Thomason will be serving as principal at Shugart Elementary.
She has been married to her husband Thad for 23 years and has two sons. Josh is in the US Air Force and is serving at Lakenheath Air Force Base in England. Sam is 19 and plays baseball at Ranger College. Mrs. Thomason loves watching baseball, reading, and swimming with her dogs. She is very excited to work at Shugart!

My name is Sahur Augsteen and I am honored to be a part of the Shugart family as your Assistant Principal. I'm grateful to work alongside such an amazing group of teachers and staff that are passionate and dedicated to helping all of our students succeed. I look forward to working with everyone here. l am excited about being able to serve our wonderful campus. Together, we will have an amazing year ahead!
