Administration
Principal
It is with immense pride and enthusiasm that I serve as the principal of Shugart Elementary School. I am deeply committed to our school community's mission of nurturing our children in a high-quality learning environment.
My journey in education began in my home country of Colombia, and I have been an educator since 1998. I find immense joy in being a principal, as it allows me to empower teachers as leaders while staying closely connected to the incredible learning and growth happening in our classrooms every day. I firmly believe that every child has the potential to excel, and that a strong partnership between home and school is essential in building the confidence students need to shape their own futures.
I welcome input from all stakeholders, so please feel free to email, call, or stop by anytime. Let's continue to keep our students at the heart of everything we do!
Assistant Principal
We are excited to welcome Sofia Vaughan!
It is an honor and privilege to serve as the assistant principal of Shugart Elementary. I am excited to partner with our students, staff, and families to help create a school environment where every child feels supported, valued, and capable of success.
My core belief is that every student deserves access to a high-quality education and a positive experience throughout their educational journey. Students thrive when they are surrounded by adults who believe in their potential, hold high expectations, and provide the encouragement and support they need to grow. I am committed to helping build a school culture where all students feel known, challenged, and inspired to become their best selves.
Throughout my career, I have served as a bilingual classroom teacher, instructional coach, and support teacher. These experiences have strengthened my passion for supporting teachers, building strong relationships, and ensuring that student needs remain at the center of every decision. I look forward to working alongside our school community to make a lasting and positive impact on every student we serve.
