We appreciate subs
Welcome to our school! We can't thank you enough for being here as a substitute. Whether you are here short or long term, you play an important role on our campus. By being here to support the school and student learning, you help our schools run smoothly and keep classrooms productive when our educators are absent.
Our substitutes, also called subs, are important to us and we want to make sure that you are well taken care of while on our campus. We hope the following information helps your day go smoothly.
The Shugart family would like to introduce long term substitute, Marissa Patton. Patton has chosen to work in fine arts as our music teacher. Patton was raised in GISD, attending Keeley, Kimberlin, Austin and Garland High School. She has a BA in Vocal Music from Centenary College of Louisiana. She likes substituting because it is something exciting and new every day, and it allows her to be on the same schedule as her daughter. Prior to accepting the six week assignment at Shugart, Patton had never substituted in the same grade more than two days in a row. She has worked in choir, ninth grade algebra, seventh grade math, and Mariachi band, in another district. Patton says she was nervous to be working at the elementary level for so long, but she really loves making music with the young students. She has been particularly impressed with the musicianship of third grade. Thank you, Marissa Patton. We appreciate you.
