Community connections

We love when Shugart Sheriff parents visit or volunteer in our school. We have parents who volunteer weekly to operate the cash cart and those who shelve books in the library. But we also appreciate the parents who do not have students that attend our school. We appreciate our community members who serve on our campus improvement team. They even spend time mentoring some of our students. Students can never have too many people who are interested in protecting their happiness and social and emotional help. We are so grateful for the volunteers who serve in this capacity.

Parent workshops

The department of Family and Community Engagement has partnered with Region 10 to host parent workshops throughout the year with effective parenting strategies, ideas on how to get more involved and information to help your child be successful in school and in life.

Past workshops have included topics such as:

  • bullying
  • guide to STAAR
  • parent involvement
  • motivating children
  • cybersafety
  • teen dating violence
  • substance abuse
  • anger management

Check out our Parent workshop calendar to find an upcoming class.

Please check out our current campus improvement plan.

Field trips

They are back! We are so excited to be able to offer our students opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. Recently, our second completed water safety courses at the natatorium. Each year, we have fine arts field trips. Check with your child's teacher about future field trip opportunities.
