Policies & Procedures

Dress Code

Southgate follows the district's dress policy. Students should not wear flip-flops and shorts/skirts should be fingertip length.  Students also need to wear sneakers/closed toed shoes on the days they attend PE.  To help locate lost items, please put your child's name on coats, sweaters, backpacks and lunchboxes.

Absences & Tardies

If your child is absent, please send a note to the teacher or office the day he/she returns to school.

Students arriving at or after 8:11 a.m. will be tardy and will have a partial day absence.

Students leaving before 10:00 a.m. will have an absence for the day.  Also, students leaving before 3:00pm will have a partial day absence.

Students must be signed in/out in the office.

Additional information on the district's absence and tardy policy can be found on the Garland ISD attendance webpage.

Parent Involvement policy

Southgate Elementary School recognizes that a child’s education is a responsibility shared by the school and family during the entire period the child spends in school. To support the goal that all children succeed academically and in life, the school and parents must work together as partners.

Southgate Elementary School is committed to the success of students.  We will work together with parents to make sure that our Title I program is effective in developing students who achieve.
